SuddenEdge sends follow-up messages for local home-service businesses: quote check-ins, seasonal reminders, and a check-in and review request after a job. This page explains what personal information we handle, why, and the choices you have.

If you got a message from a local business

The business is in charge of your information. It gave us your details because you’re its customer, and we use them only to send that business’s messages, on its behalf.

  • What we use: your name, phone number and email, your quotes and jobs with that business, and the messages you exchange with it.
  • What you get: messages about your own quote or job, under the business’s name. Offers go by text only if you said yes in writing; otherwise by email.
  • AI replies: some replies are written by an AI assistant from facts the business approved, and a person checks the conversations every weekday. Ask, and it will say it’s an AI assistant.
  • Stopping: reply STOP to any text, or use the unsubscribe link in any email. You get one confirmation, and no more marketing or follow-up messages from that business through us. If you write to the business again, it may answer you. We keep a record of your request so it holds.
  • Safety: if you write about gas, smoke, a leak or no heat, we reply with safety advice and alert the business, even if you’ve stopped other messages.

If your business uses SuddenEdge

  • What we collect: your name, your business’s name and contact details, your settings, and the customer details the system needs (name, phone or email, last job date, open quotes). Your card is held by our payment processor; we never see the full number.
  • Why: to run the service for your business, bill you, and send your Monday email.
  • Your customer list is used only for your business, never sold, and deleted within 30 days if you leave.

Who we share it with

We never sell personal information. We share it only with the providers that run the service: the platform that stores contacts and sends texts and emails, phone carriers, email delivery, the AI provider that drafts replies, and our payment processor. Some of them store and process it outside Canada, mainly in the United States. While it’s there, courts, law enforcement and national security authorities there may be able to access it under their laws. Ask us for the list of providers.

How long we keep it

  • Customer information: while the business uses SuddenEdge, then deleted within 30 days.
  • Stop requests and text consents: as long as we keep that business’s list, so a stop always holds and a yes can be shown.
  • Billing records: as long as tax law requires.

Your choices

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent, by emailing [YOUR EMAIL]. We answer within 30 days. If you’re the customer of a business we work for, we may pass your request to that business too. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
